Sketchbook Confessional Week 8

Are you ready for another look into the Sketchbook? Good! This week I thought that it would be fun to take a look at another landscape painting. These painting were all done within a very short amount of time, somewhere between five to ten minutes and are essentially color sketches or speed paintings.

What really makes them fun is that they don’t allow you to spend a lot of time concentrating on the individual elements. Instead you’re focusing on the role they play in the over all composition. This is different than when you produce roughs for a full illustration because roughs are is still more restrictive (in my opinion).

Well it looks like this week’s SC is just in time for Halloween. And with that I might as well share something a little more spooky. Okay, I will be the first to admit that the cat creature below is only scary if you’re under 10. But it was a fun sketch for Halloween.
