A recent post on Slashdot tickled my funny bone today and I thought that I might as well share it with you.
It seems that while bing has picked up popularity in the SE wars it may not be as unbiased as one would expect from a SE.
Here is a fun little test you can do on the phrase: ‘Why is Windows so expensive?’ One would expect that this would return at least some results about the expensive Windows OS. What you get instead is a full page on ‘Why are Macs so expensive.’ In the event that you don’t want to try this lab experiment I have taken the liberty of print screening the results.
At least Google isn’t biased.

Yes indeed. No need for the government to repress or redirect the media spotlight, when it can be done by the private sector for the more lofty and altruistic ideal of capitalism!
Perhaps we’ll come up with a benchmarking tool that determines how biased (and in what areas) our trusted seach engines are.
“I’m feeling lucky” to have the ability to still put a direct entry into a browser. I can see this layer of the web being removed from the casual user, eventually being so heavily burdened/regulated/leveraged that you won’t be able to check your email without watching 2 minutes of adds…oh wait…that’s already happened…
This has been fixed. As of 3:46 mountain time, it currently has this for that search.

Thanks for taking the screenshot. I figured that the bing landscape would change pretty quickly for that search term.
I checked again today, and as octoberdan and curious pointed out the results still come up with the current buzz about the topic.
It’s still not about the cost of Microsoft Windows. Instead, it’s about reports of it still not being about the cost of Microsoft Windows.
> This has been fixed.
Actually, not. What happened was that THIS REVELATION about preferences in the search engine have pushed the Macintosh entires further down the list. The results that refer to the Windows product and why it’s so expensive are STILL lower on the list than the Macintosh entires.
Curious? Maybe not so much
