One thing that I have wanted to do for a while now is integrate a way to greet new and returning visitors to the site, giving mmbenya.com that personal touch that makes a visit all the more memorable. But to do that I’ve lacked time as of late, and it has been put on the back burner indefinitely.
Still that didn’t mean that I wanted to give up the idea all together. So with a little digging – and I mean a little – I found an excellent plugin, WP Greet Box by Thaya Kareeson.
WP Greet Box is a feature-rich way to greet new visitors and it is smart enough to know where each visitor came from. This is a big plus in my opinion and kudos to Thaya Kareeson for integrating it.
The only thing that I would like to see added to this plug in is a way to greet returning visitors and making it a little more personable.
Why? Well think of the satisfaction users would have being welcomed back to the site after a prolonged absence. I feel that it would have that “hey, they remembered me” touch that the plugin at the current state is missing. Another feature that would help accent this would be a list of recent posts since the person was last on the site. It would go something like this:
Hi, welcome back to the site. Here is what’s been happening on mmbenya.com since your last visit:

So this isn’t so much a review of WP Greet Box but rather me sharing some of my thoughts and thanking Thaya Kareeson for releasing a great plugin to the community.
Happy blogging.
